Item Diagnostic importance of phenotypic features of undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia in spondylogenic vertebro-basilar insufficiency(2024-01-15) Nekrasova, Nataliya; Tovazhnyanska, Olena; Singh, RheaAccording to this study, the diagnostic and prognosticvalue of constitutional-biological markers of undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia is necessary for substantiation of the risk level of SVBI development. The indicated constitutional-biological markers integrate the effect of phenotypic peculiarities and the formation of the risk of vascular disorders. The structural imbalance of cervical spine and the presence of (kyphosis/scoliosis) are the most informative and prognostically significant constitutional-biological markers of undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia in spondylogenic vertebro-basilar insufficiencypatients.Item Neurocysticercosis with symptomatic epilepsy manifestation(2021-08) Nekrasova, Nataliya; Tovazhnyanska, Olena; Sushetska, Daryna; Markovska, Olena; Shapkin, Anton; Singh, Rhea; Soloviova, Yevhenija; Butov, DmytroTo present a unique case of a 22-year-old male patient with symptomatic epilepsy manifestation on a background of neurocysticercosis (NCC). An Indian student in Kharkiv, who lived in rural parts in India, presented with sudden episodes of seizure followed by severe headaches. Laboratory analyses and neurological status (MRI) were performed. Neurological status of the patient revealed nystagmus and difficulty in performing co-ordination tests. General analysis of blood showed raised eosinophil count to 8%. The MRI showed a few small conglomerating peripherally enhancing thick-walled infective granulomas in left frontal lobe with extensive surrounding oedema in the left fronto-parietal lobe. The patient was treated with albendazol, levipil, methylprednisolone and pantoprazole. Clinical symptoms and subsequent MRI showed improvement. Neurocysticercosis is often misdiagnosed in the early stages, which leads to adverse outcomes. Although seizures are the most common clinical manifestation, it is a symptom that is not found in majority of the patients. The NCC of adult onset accompanying epileptic seizures is not well studied and a link between the helminthic invasion, epilepsy and psychiatric conditions needs to be established. This disease is potentially eradicable with wellplanned eradication programs targeting all stages of Taenia solium life cycleItem New-onset isolated acalculia as a consequence of right temporo-parieto-occipital junction infarct(2022-09) Nekrasova, Nataliya; Tovazhnyanska, Olena; Singh, Rhea; Rudenko, Serhii; Riznichenko, Olena; Zub, KseniiaAcalculia is defined as a form of cognitive impairment, manifested by the loss of ability to perform calculating operations and use arithmetical concepts because of the damage to some parts of the cerebral cortex, with a subcortical extension. Case presentation. We present a unique case of a 74-year-old right-handed patient with isolated acalculia on a background of ischemic stroke in the right parietal lobe. Physical examination, laboratory tests, and various instrumental and neurological investigations including electroencephalogram and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were performed. Brain MRI showed a subacute infarct in the area of the right temporo-parieto-occipital junction and multiple subcortical lesions of vascular origin in the frontal and parietal lobes. The patient was treated with aspirin, enalapril, and atorvastatin, along with cognitive rehabilitation therapy. During subsequent follow-up visits, a decrease in the severity of acalculia was noticed, but complete recovery was yet to be achieved.Item Studying of the correlation between the severity of ischemic stroke and the severity of post-stroke spasticity in the early recovery period(Movement Disorders Society, 2021-09-15) Nekrasova, Nataliya; Rudenko, SergiiThe objective was to identify the correlation between the severity of the ischemic stroke and the severity of post-stroke spasticity in the early recovery period. Spasticity is a movement disorder that is one of the main disabling symptoms in patients with ischemic stroke. Spasticity significantly limits everyday activity and decreases the life quality of patients. Despite the small number of patients included in the study, there is a certain relationship between the severity of the stroke and the severity of spasticity in the early recovery period: the more severe the stroke, the more severe the spasticity. However, this issue requires more comprehensive study in the future.
