Abstract

The combination of arterial hypertension (AH) and diabetes mellitus (DM) increases their adverse effects on the cardiovascular (CV) system, heightens the risk of development of both macrovascular complications - stroke, myocardial infarction, sudden death, atherosclerotic peripheral vascular disease and microvascular lesions - retinopathy, nephropathy and neuropathy.
