Abstract

Graves' disease (GD) is an antibody-mediated autoimmune disease characterized by diffuse goiter and hyperthyroidism. Hyperthyroidism causes an acceleration of basal metabolism and increases cellular oxygen utilization, which, in turn, increases the formation of reactive oxygen species and disrupts the oxidant-antioxidant balance.
