dc.description.abstract | Background: The increased level of the placental pro-inflammatory cytokines, vasoconstrictors and lipid peroxidationproducts is known to be involved in the pathogenetic scenarioof pre-eclampsia. Systemic inflammatory response syndromecaptures the severity of pre-eclampsia (PE). The opinion aboutthe possible role of infection in the origin and progression ofpre-eclampsia is rather unpopular nowadays.Aim: To elucidate the involvement of the infectious agents inthe pathogenesis of multiple organ failure syndrome in pre-eclampsia.Case report: An unusual case of the prodromal symptoms ofeclampsia and systemic inflammatory response syndrome inthe postpartum period associated with group B streptococcusinfection was reported. But the resistant to the cephalosporinsmicrobial flora was a reason for the progression severity of pre-eclampsia and puerperal sepsis. Since uterus was the sourceof sepsis the hysterectomy procedure has given a possibility toavoid general peritonitis and septic shock. Conclusion: The infectious inflammation could be involvedin the pathogenesis of PE and contribute to the progressive severity of the disease. | en_US |
