Abstract

An anatomical study has been carried out on the thymus gland of 40 fetuses and 46 newborns. The beginning of myelinization of the thymic nerves is identified in 32 week old fetuses. An increase of the number of fibers and a differentiation of the fibers of a medium diameter are marked in newborns. Unmyelinated fibers predominate in the nerves of the thymus gland of fetuses and newborns. Fibers of a small diameter make up the bulk in the spectrum of myelinated fibers.
