World Health Organization estimates that the number of people with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) grew by nearly 300 % from 1980 to 2014, to 422 million worldwide. That number is also predicted to rise, to 642 million people living with diabetes worldwide by 2040. A close link exists between DM and cardiovascular disease(CVD). CVD is the most prevalent cause of mortality and morbidity in diabetic populations. That relative risk in adults with DM ranges from 1 to 3 in men and from 2 to 5 in women compared to those without DM.ru_RU
