Virtual patients and CASUS-platform in medical education during military time

Abstract

Development of clinical reasoning is a critically important competency in medical education. The formation of such competence requires not only a sufficient amount of theoretical knowledge, but also certain practical experience, which is acquired in the process of curation of patients in the conditions of clinical bases of medical institutions of higher education. However, in military conditions, especially in the frontline regions, the possibility of conducting practical classes at offline format at the clinical bases of departments of higher education institutions is significantly limited. Curation of thematic patients at the clinical bases of university departments, as an important tool for the development of clinical reasoning, is very limited during war. The aim of the study is to search for new tools for the development of clinical reasoning for students of higher medical education, which can be applied in the distance learning format.
