ELISA method for the detection and quantification of human heparanase

Abstract

Highly sensitive and reliable ELISA method capable of quantifying heparanase in tissue extracts and urine samples. Our preliminary results indicate that the same is true for other body fluids such as plasma and pleural effusions. The significant increase in heparanase levels found in the urine of cancer and diabetic patients provides a basis for a large scale screen evaluating heparanase as a diagnostic and prognostic marker for several disorders such as solid and hematological malignancies, diabetes, inflammation, autoimmunity, and kidney disorders
