Item Features of Relationships between Temperamental Characteristics in Male and Female Adolescents(2017) Попова, Людмила Дмитрівна; Васильєва, Ірина Михайлівна; Наконечна, Оксана АнатоліївнаAggression, including aggression of adolescents, is a major problem in modern society, but the mechanisms of its development are not clear up today. Researches of mechanisms of aggression development in women are virtually absent. We studied the relationships between temperamental characteristics in male and female adolescents. Aggressiveness index, physical, verbal aggressions, irritability, anxiety, extraversion and neuroticism levels were estimated using Buss-Durkee Hostility Inventory, Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, Eysenck Personality Inventory. Higher neuroticism, anxiety levels and irritability were found in female adolescents compared with male adolescents, that perhaps due to a greater activity of the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis in women. Significant positive correlations between neuroticism and anxiety, and high negative correlations between anxiety and verbal aggression were revealed in male adolescents. Significant positive correlations between neuroticism and physical aggression, neuroticism and irritability, irritability and verbal aggression, verbal aggression and extraversion were revealed in female adolescents. Significant positive correlations between neuroticism and physical aggression, neuroticism and irritability, irritability and verbal aggression in female adolescents make it possible to suggest that female adolescents are more prone to impulsive aggression than male adolescents.Item Interrelation between Anxiety Level and Aggressiveness(2017) Попова, Людмила Дмитриевна; Васильева, Ирина Михайловна; Наконечная, Оксана Анатольевна; Popova, Liudmyla; Vasylyeva, I.; Nakonechna, OksanaHigh anxiety is the base not only for depression development but also to impulsive aggression manifestation. In the previous study we revealed the differences in neurohumoral status in animals with submissive and dominant behavioral types. Hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis hyperactivity, the increase in noradrenaline and the decrease in serotonin levels in limbicocortical regions were observed in submissive male rats (high anxiety). Due to these results, we studied an interrelation between anxiety level and aggressiveness index and its components. The research involved 138 participants: 121 young men aged 18 to 22 years and 17 male adolescents within the age range 15-16 years. They were asked to answer Buss-Durkee Hostility Inventory, Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and Eysenck Personality Inventory. The anxiety level was assessed in points. The aggressiveness index, physical, verbal and indirect aggressions were estimated in a percentage of the maximum level. No correlation between the anxiety level and the aggressiveness index was found in whole group of young men. Whole group was separated into three subgroups depending on anxiety level: with high, moderate and low anxiety levels. Strong positive correlation between anxiety level and aggression index in men with high anxiety level and negative correlation between these two parameters in men with low anxiety level were revealed. In last subgroup the correlation was statistically insignificant. In men with moderate anxiety level no correlation between anxiety level and aggression index was observed. This interrelation may be taken into account in anxiety treatment and in the prevention of impulsive aggression manifestation. In whole group of male adolescents no correlation between anxiety and aggressiveness index was found. Obtained data indicate the necessity of participants division depending on anxiety level and using the closed age groups to study the mechanisms of aggression development.Item Interrelations between Personality Traits and Aggression in Young Men(2017) Попова, Людмила Дмитрівна; Васильєва, Ірина Михайлівна; Наконечна, Оксана АнатоліївнаAggression is significant problem of modern society. Its development mechanisms are not clear to date. We studied relationship between aggression index and extraversion, neuroticism and anxiety levels. The study involved 121 young men aged 18 to 22 years. Aggression index, anxiety, extraversion and neuroticism levels were estimated using BussDurkee Hostility Inventory, Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, Eysenck Personality Inventory. In total group of participants the positive correlations between neuroticism and both aggression index and physical aggression were found. In total group negative correlation between extraversion and anxiety and positive correlation between anxiety and neuroticism were revealed. The highest aggression index was found in extraverts and in individuals with high level of neuroticism. No differences in aggression indexes were found between extraverts and persons with middle extraversion, between men with high and middle neuroticism levels. No differences between aggression indexes were shown in men with different levels of anxiety, but aggression index in men with low anxiety was similar to aggression index in extraverts and men with high neuroticism. Analysis of correlation coefficients between temperamental characteristics showed the positive correlation between neuroticism and anxiety in extraverts and men with middle extraversion. A positive correlation between aggression index and neuroticism in extraverts, and positive correlation between aggression index and extraversion in persons with high neuroticism were revealed. Men with high anxiety had positive significant correlation between aggression index and anxiety. Taking into account all the above mentioned tendencies, we suggest, that extraverts with high neuroticism and anxiety levels are prone to impulsive aggression. The individuals with high anxiety, high neuroticism and middle extraversion may be also predisposed to excessive impulsive aggression, due to high positive correlation between anxiety and aggression index in men with high anxiety, strong positive correlation between anxiety and neuroticism and moderate negative correlation between neuroticism and extraversion in persons with middle extraversion. In individuals with low anxiety a negative almost statistically significant (p=0.052) correlation between anxiety and neuroticism, and a positive significant correlation between neuroticism and aggression index were observed. The existence of these correlations together with positive correlations between aggression index and neuroticism in extraverts, between aggression index and extraversion in men with high neuroticism provide the possibility to suggest, that extraverts with low anxiety and high neuroticism may be predisposed to excessive controlled aggression. Extraverts with low anxiety and middle neuroticism can also manifest high aggression due to negative correlation between extraversion and anxiety.
