| dc.description.abstract | Hyperglycemia inhibits the activity of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) reducing the production of NO and impairing endothelium-dependent vasodilatation. Consequently, the production of reactive oxygen species – especially the superoxide anion is increased, further ingibiting the acton of eNOS. Apelin is an adipokine, novel marker of vascular outcomes in patients with chronic heart diseases. But data are still controversial. | uk_UA |
