Aim of study ‒ assess an impact of percutaneous coronary intervention on markers of matrix degradation (MMP-13, TIMP-4) and endothelial-dependent mediators (sVE-cadherin, ADMA) in patients with acute myocardial infarction and diabe- tes mellitus type 2. 110 patients with AMI were enrolled in the study, 70 patients had concomitant diabetes mellitus type 2. They were addition- ally divided into two subgroups depending on the treatment (percutaneous coronary intervention or conservative therapy). According to the obtained results, misbalance of extracellular matrix degradation markers (MMP-13, TIMP-4) and endothelial dysfunction (sVE-cadherin, ADMA) were revealed in patients with acute myocardial infarction. Performing of PCI procedure contributes to the significant lowering of MMP-13, sVE-cad- herin, ADMA and increasing of TIMP-4 in diabetic patients. It was establishted that performing of percutaneous coro- nary intervention in patients with acute myocardial infarction and diabetes mellitus type 2 contributes to the maintenance of extracellular matrix that prevents myocardium remodeling and improvement of endothelial function.en_US
