Prevalence of GERD in patients with Diabetes mellitus type 2

Abstract

For a long time it was believed that the incidence of gastrointestinal illness among patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) did not differ from that in the general population. However, during the last 10-15 years due to a better understanding of the pathophysiology and classification of diabetes symptoms gradually been defined pathogenetic relationship of this disease with gastrointestinal symptoms.
