Abstract
Aim of the study: to determine the sensitivity of ultrasound examination of the cardiac complications in hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes.
Materials and methods: 103 hypertensive patients were examined. Common clinical investigations were provided (electrocardiography and echocardiogram). Data is represented as Me (Q25-Q75). Median test were used, р <0,05.
Results. Patients were divided into three groups depend on prediabetes or type 2 diabetes presence. The 1 group consisted of 39 (31,9 %) hypertensive patients without prediabetes or type 2. The 2 group included 34 (36,2 %) hypertensive patients with prediabetes. The 3 group is 30 (31,9 %) hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes. Left ventricular hypertrophy was detected in 100% of patients from 1, 2 and 3 group by Electrocardiography. LVH was observed in 47,74% of hypertensive patients, in 68,75% of hypertensive patients with prediabetes and in 60 % of hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes.
Conclusion: According to the obtained results, ultrasound examination of the cardiac complications in hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes substantiates of acceptable level of the sensitivity and specificity to determine the left ventricular hypertrophy and allows differentiating the type of left ventricular geometry.
