Abstract: The author of the publication presented the results of a quantitative study of the thoracic fluid content with the help of an original scientific development. The new method of studying the amount of fluid in the chest has based on the determination of the electrical impedance of the chest and the results of an anthropometric examination, which includes the measurement of the circle in the neck area and the circle in the lower part of the chest. The mathematical model of the chest volume has calculated using the formula for calculating the volume of a frustum. The author of the work presented the dynamics of the indicator of thoracic fluid content in patients with chest trauma and pulmonary contusion, which is characteristic of the manifestations of respiratory failure and for the normalization of the patient's condition.
