| Abstract: | Глобальне розповсюдження викладання англійською мовою стимулює пошук засобів підвищення якості процесу навчання, одним із яких є підвищення лінгвістичної грамотності викладачів фахових дисциплін. У статті проаналізовані педагогічні методики та стратегії, спрямовані на покращення розуміння навчального матеріалу та підвищення рівня володіння англійською мовою студентами, які мають бути використані на заняттях. |
| Description: | In the recent decades, the global spread of English medium instruction raise a question of the education quality under the conditions, when English is a foreign language for both the teacher and the student. Students' poor comprehension and passive engagement in class can affect the subject mastering. The purpose of the work was to review the methods, which can be used to improve the quality of the learning process. Application of the techniques and strategies, which are generally used in a foreign language classroom, in an EMI classroom can facilitate understanding the subject content, aid in speech production, and in such a manner, will obviously provide learning success. Planning and prediction of the language problems, pre-teaching of the content obligatory language, using various techniques to explain the vocabulary, those of question-answer work, scaffolding, using discourse markers, visual aids used by EMI teachers are some of the techniques recommended in the literature. It is concluded that an EMI teacher’s awareness of the linguistic problems can be achieved through the co-operation with foreign language departments. |
