Abstract: Internal medicine or general medicine (in Commonwealth nations) is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Sound knowledge of the normal structure and function of internal organs and systems as well as their abnormalities is a compulsory component of knowledge required for the proper clinical practice of internal medicine.
