Chronic hypoxia and systemic inflammation contribute to tissue destruction and disruption normal repair and defense mechanisms, resulting in pulmonary vascular remodeling and pulmonary hypertension. We found that desaturation is associated with inflammatory activation and contributes to right heart chambers overload.
