However bacterial vaginosis (BV) is strongly associated with increased host susceptibility to STI (hrHPV included). Gardnerella Vaginalis (GV) might pave the way for STI causing epithelial cell (EC) damage and shedding, suppressing leukocyte recruitment, thereby leaving underlying mucosal tissue exposed to potential pathogens. Pushing regrowth of EC layers GV may make HPV-infected EC liable for persistent HPV dwelling there and than trigger viral DNA incorporation into host genome and launch neoplastic transformation. GV is a powerful biofilm-producer therefore BV often remains recalcitrant to treatment. Another input to recurrent BV can be made by host genetic variation in stress-related genes and smoking. The study examined the rate of BV among HPV-infected women with LSIL and HSIL (separately).Item Biometric recognition of personality based on spiral computed tomography data(2021) Nechyporenko, А.; Alekseeva, V.; Nazaryan, R.; Gargin, V.Item Capillaroscopy as a method for verifying the pathology of the nasal mucosa in chronic rhinritis(2021) Шушляпіна, Наталія Олегівна; Чернякова, Олександра Євгеніївна; Shushliapina, Nataliia; Cherniakova, OlexandraItem Complex Automatic Determination of Morphological Parameters for Bone Tissue in Human Paranasal Sinuses(The Open Bioinformatics Journal, 2021-11) Nechyporenko, Alina; Radutny, Radiy; Alekseeva, Victoriia; Titova, Ganna; Vitaliy, GarginIntroduction: Application of automated analysis currently occupies a leading position in every field of science and technology. The aim of our study was to provide a complex automatic determination of morphological parameters for bone tissue in human paranasal sinuses. Materials and Methods: The study involved 50 patients aged 20 to 60, male and female without signs of inflammatory or other pathological processes in the paranasal sinuses (PNSs). Results: Bone density in a high-contrast image of the section can be determined by fluctuations in colour intensity. Before cleaning, the image is blurred using the Gaussian function. As a result of this operation, the images become less clear and small details merge. An algorithm known as the Connie Border Detector has found widespread use. The curves denoting the contours can run vertically, horizontally or diagonally at different angles. Detection of the direction of curves passing vertically and horizontally is not complicated, and for curves of the diagonal direction, the Sobel operator is used, with the vertical direction Gy and horizontal Gx as the value of the first derivative. Selection of areas of bone tissue requires the assessment of brightness gradient along the long side of the area. For clarity, this operation was shown graphically. Conclusion: Within the scope of this work, we have developed a method for an automatic comprehensive assessment of the morphological structure of the PNSs walls with the measurement of bone density and thickness.Item Complex Automatic Evaluation of the Medical Images of the Paranasal Sinuses(2021) Radutny, Radiy; Nechyporenko, Alina; Alekseeva, Victoriia; Yurevych, Nadiia; Lupyr, Andrii; Gargin, VitaliyItem Damage of the tympanic membrane during self-cleaning of the ears(2022) Podurets, Anastasiia; Tymoshchuk, AnnaItem Deep learning based image segmentation for detection of odontogenic maxillary sinusitis(2022) Nechyporenko, Alina; Frohme, Marcus; Dmytry, Sytnikov; Alekseeva, Victoriia; Gargin, Vitaliy; Gubarenko, MarynaItem Detection of bone density of paranasal sinuses in women with different level of sex hormons(2021) Alekseeva, V.; Nazaryan, R.; Muryzina, I.; Gargin, V.; Bondarenko, A.Item Distinctive Features of Anosmia in Acute Respiratory Viral and Coronaviral Infection(2021) Hlushko, Svitlana; Sloz, Diana; Dzyza, AllaItem Efficiency of Semiconductor Laser Application for Treatment of Chronic Hypertrophic Rhinitis(Kharkiv National Medical University, 2013-05) Kalashnyk, Yulia; Chigirik, AnnaItem Experimental Evaluation of Food-Grade Semi-Refined Carrageenan Toxicity(2021) Pogozhykh, Denys; Posokhov, Yevgen; Myasoedov, Valeriy; Gubina-Vakulyck, Galina; Chumachenko, Tetyana; Knigavko, Oleksandr; Polikarpova, Hanna; Kalashnyk-Vakulenko, Yuliia; Sharashydze, Ketino; Nakonechna, Oksana; Prokopyuk, Volodymyr; Onishchenko, Anatolii; Tkachenko, AntonThe safety of food additives E407 and E407a has raised concerns in the scientific community. Thus, this study aims to assess the local and systemic toxic effects of the common food additive E407a in rats orally exposed to it for two weeks. Complex evaluations of the effects of semi-refined carrageenan (E407a) on rats upon oral exposure were performed. Local effects of E407a on the intestine were analyzed using routine histological stains and CD68 immunostaining. Furthermore, circulating levels of inflammatory markers were assessed. A fluorescent probe O1O (2- (2′-OH-phenyl)-5-phenyl-1,3-oxazole) was used for evaluating the state of leukocyte cell membranes. Cell death modes of leukocytes were analyzed by flow cytometry using Annexin V and 7-aminoactinomycin D staining. Oral administration of the common food additive E407a was found to be associated with altered small and large intestinal morphology, infiltration of the lamina propria in the small intestine with macrophages (CD68+ cells), high systemic levels of inflammation markers, and changes in the lipid order of the phospholipid bilayer in the cell membranes of leukocytes, alongside the activation of their apoptosis. Our findings suggest that oral exposure to E407a through rats results in the development of intestinal inflammation.Item Identification of Personality Based on the Sphenoid Sinus Structure Using Machine Learning(2023-11) Nechyporenko, Alina; Frohme, Marcus; Omelchenko, Vladyslav; Alekseeva, Victoriia; Lupyr, Andrii; Gargin, VitaliyItem Implementation of the Uncertainty Calculation for the Detection of Negative Effect of Smoking on the Bone Density of Paranasal Sinuses(2023-11) Reshetnik, Viktor; Alekseeva, Victoriia; Anastasiia, Devos; Nazaryan, Rosana; Gargin, Vitaliy; Nechyporenko, AlinaItem Implementation of Uncertainty Calculation Elicited from Paranasal Sinuses Bones' Structural Parameters for Various Approaches to Treat Recurrent Poliposus(2022) Reshetnik, Viktor; Zherebkin, Vadym; Semko, Galyna; Kalnytska, Violeta; Alekseeva, Victoriia; Gargin, VitaliyItem The influence of treatment tactics on the level of quality of life and the condition of the nasal cavity in patients with chronic atrophic rhinitis provoked by harmful production conditions(2024) Lupyr, Andrii; Poliakov, OleksiiIntroduction. Various types of occupational hazards can cause the development of occupational atrophic rhinitis (AR). Researches determine the high prevalence of professional AR among workers in various fields of production. Drug treatment of RA is an important issue. The effectiveness of the use of autologous platelet- enriched plasma is determined. Determining the possibilities of increasing the effectiveness of treatment of professional AR with platelet- enriched plasma is a very relevant issue of modern medicine. The aim. To evaluate the use of autologous platelet-rich plasma in occupational chronic AR compared to standard treatment (irrigation with oil solutions). Materials and methods. 141 patients were examined: I group (32.6 %) received irrigation with oil solutions, II (39.7 %) – injections of platelet-rich plasma, and III (27.7 %) – injections of platelet-rich plasma and irrigation with oil solutions. Results. Significant (p < 0.001) chances of improvement in quality of life levels were found in groups I and II compared to III one month after treatment, based on decreases in the values of the NOSE scale (respectively by 0.946 points and by 5.285 points) and increases values in the SF-36 questionnaire (RE scale and RR by 13.899 points; p = 0.004 and by 15.914 points only with combined treatment; MH scale – by 4.028 points and by 17.880 points; VT scale – by 5.136 points; p = 0.005 and by 24.158 points). Significant (p < 0.001) chances of an increase in nasocytogram indicators were determined in groups I and II compared to III: respectively, the pH of mucus (by 1.029 and by 1.333), the quantitative composition of neutrophils (by 18.958 % and by 21.078 %) and eosinophils (by 3.540 %) combined treatment only) and saccharin test indicators (at 0.3 min; p = 0.005 and at 1.696 min). Conclusions. An improvement in the quality of life and parameters of the nasocytogram and saccharin test was determined when injections of platelet-rich plasma were used (both separately and in combination with irrigation with oil solutions) in patients with occupational chronic AR. Reliable chances of a decrease in NOSE scale values and an increase in SF-36 questionnaire indicators and chances of an increase in nasocytogram and saccharin test indicators were established.Item Intelligent Decision Support System for Differential Diagnosis of Chronic Odontogenic Rhinosinusitis Based on U-Net Segmentation(2023-03) Nechyporenko, Alina; Frohme, Marcus; Gargin, Vitaliy; Meniailov, Ievgen; Chumachenko, Dmytro; Alekseeva, VictoriiaThe share of chronic odontogenic rhinosinusitis is 40% among all chronic rhinosinusitis. Using automated information systems for differential diagnosis will improve the efficiency of decision-making by doctors in diagnosing chronic odontogenic rhinosinusitis. Therefore, this study aimed to develop an intelligent decision support system for the differential diagnosis of chronic odontogenic rhinosinusitis based on computer vision methods. A dataset was collected and processed, including 162 MSCT images. A deep learning model for image segmentation was developed. A 23 convolutional layer U-Net network architecture has been used for the segmentation of multi-spiral computed tomography (MSCT) data with odontogenic maxillary sinusitis. The proposed model is implemented in such a way that each pair of repeated 3 × 3 convolutions layers is followed by an Exponential Linear Unit instead of a Rectified Linear Unit as an activation function. The model showed an accuracy of 90.09%. To develop a decision support system, an intelligent chatbot allows the user to conduct an automated patient survey and collect patient examination data from several doctors of various profiles. The intelligent information system proposed in this study made it possible to combine an image processing model with a patient interview and examination data, improving physician decision-making efficiency in the differential diagnosis of Chronic Odontogenic Rhinosinusitis. The proposed solution is the first comprehensive solution in this area.Item Investigation of the Impact of Insulin Resistance on the Bone Density of the Upper Wall of the Maxillary Sinus(2023-11) Alekseeva, Victoriia; Reshetnik, Viktor; Frohme, Marcus; Irina, Kachailo; Irina, Muryzina; Nechyporenko, AlinaItem Markers of chronic inflammation and atherosclerosis in women at menopaus(2022-08) Alieksieieva, Victoriia; Muryzina, Irina; Shcherbina, Mykola; Gargin, VitaliyBackground and Aims : Recognition of high-risk population that should be screened in the first turn provides the opportunity to intervene at the reversible stage. Endometriosis is notoriously associated with chronic inflammation, which might outweigh protective influence on endothelium of almost unopposed estrogens. Objectives. The objectives were to test patients with confirmed endometriosis for biomarkers of inflammation and early marker of atherosclerosis during menopausal transition (MT), then to identify variables with the best predictive value with regard to subclinical atherosclerosis. Methods: The study included 67 patients aged 45-55, with endometriosis and without a history of evident cardiovascular disease who had already experienced perimenopause-associated menstrual disorders with episode of amenorrhea 2-11 month, and 32 women matching by age and history except no records about endometriosis. They were tested for C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukine-6 (IL6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNFα), apolipoprotein B (ApoB), fibrinogen, brachial artery dilation and cross-sectional associations were examined. Results: It turned out that women with endometriosis showed elevated level of IL6 (1.89±0.09 pg/ml, >1.7pg/ml), CPR (5.7±0.93 mg/L, >3mg/L), slightly raised ApoB(78±2.2 mg/dL, >60 mg/dL) and TNFα (79±1.3), lower vasodilation response (7.95±0.23, <8%). Women without endometriosis showed all these variables within physiological range. Conclusions: Chronic subclinical inflammation related to endometriosis might affect adversely endothelium and cause ED, which predisposes to alterations associated with atherosclerotic impairment of vascular network at the time of MT.Item Mechanisms of action of different groups of drugs in meniere’s disease(2023) Radchenko, Pavlo; Abramenko, Valeriia; Dzyza, Alla
