Abstract: Microalbuminuria can be used as a predictor for the early detection of cardiovascular and renal changes along with the lipid profile markers in the general population to prevent the mortality and morbidity which are associated with diabetes mellitus. Use of the albumin-to-creatinine ratio in an untimed urinary sample should be recommended as the preferred screening strategy for all diabetic patients
